Dr. Adam Elhofy joined COUR in 2017. As VP of Immunology & Innovation, he is responsible for Research and Development (R&D) and translation of immunology from R&D to the clinic. Dr. Elhofy has over 25 years of scientific research experience in immunology, neuroscience, and oncology, with 20 scientific publications in peer reviewed journals.
Before joining COUR, Dr. Elhofy was the Chief Science Officer at Essential Pharmaceuticals, LLC, where he invented and patented the core technology for their Cell-Ess line of products which can be used in a broad range of applications, including, but not limited to, bioproduction and primary research. Dr. Elhofy was also a Principal Investigator at a nanoparticle spin out from Argonne National Laboratories to treat skin related autoimmune diseases. Dr. Elhofy was a research associate professor at Northwestern Medical School where he was funded with 2 Multiple Sclerosis Training Grants.
Dr. Elhofy holds a doctorate in immunology at University of North Carolina at Charlotte where his research won him the award of the top 5 trainee scientists by the American Association of Immunologist. He also earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance, Strategy, and Biotech from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and political philosophy from University of Maryland Baltimore County.
